Fats are BACK! - ENERGYbits

Fats are BACK!

, by Catharine Arnston, 7 min reading time

Our society’s diet trends over the past few decades misled consumers in declaring that fat was bad. On the contrary–fats are back, baby! Short-chain fatty acids to be exact, and they are more essential to your overall health than you may realize!

What’s more, is that algae is one of the best and sustainable sources of pure, unadulterated omega-3s and 6–IF companies use the correct harvesting and treatment methods.

Let’s quickly get familiar with these acids and talk about why ENERGYbits® algae stands out as the best source of all the short-chain fatty acids your body needs!

What Are Fatty Acids?

Short-chain fatty acids include the essential omega-3s and 6s. They are found in many different food sources, including algae, the most important source of aquatic omega-3 there is<1>.

They are called short-chain fatty acids due to being an acid with fewer than six carbon atoms in the shape of a chain, or “tail”. Omega 3s and 6s are essential fatty acids because our bodies cannot produce them organically; we have to consume them in our food sources!

(There is also omega-9 but it is nonessential because the human body produces it already.)

GLA (a form of omega-6) in ENERGYbits® spirulina is preserved and ready to be absorbed by your body because we don’t use high heat methods which ruin the nutritional value of algae<2>.

Good fats include algae, olive oil, avocados, and nut. Bad fats include fatty red meat, prepared food, fried food, and whole-fat dairy products.
Not all fats are created equal.

Omega-3: Three Types

ALA, EPA, DHA: The powerhouse omega-3s. ALA is known as a parent fatty acid because your body can make EPA and DHA from this compound.

Omega-3 is a polyunsaturated fat, and it gets its name from the 3 carbon atoms attached at the end of its molecular chain.

You have to get omega-3s from your diet, as the human body does not naturally produce it. The World Health Organization stated recently that the average person only consumes 100mg/day of omega, which is insufficient<3>. Algae to the rescue! ENERGYbits® tablets are high in omega-3s.

Among many other beneficial qualities of omega-3, it protects your brain, gut, and heart health<4>,<5> <11>! It also aids in preventing dementia, supporting bone density, as well as assisting in weight loss management<4>.

Fish, flax seeds, olives, and other sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
Omega-3s found in algae are essential for brain development and protection against cardiovascular changes.

Omega-3s are essential for people of all ages throughout life –from fetal development to elderly populations. These fatty acids are essential to infant brain development, as well as protecting against cardiovascular changes and age-induced diseases in elders<6>!

People with inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) benefit from omega-3 absorption, as the fatty acid works to inhibit certain inflammatory agents like cytokine a well as T-cell reactivity<7>.

Unfortunately, doctors believe that the general population does not get enough omega-3 from their diet. When people do ingest omega-3s, most of it is from fish oil. However, studies have shown that most fish oil goes rancid after a month! This defeats the whole purpose –rancid fish oil causes inflammation instead of reducing it!

That’s where algae comes in! ENERGYbits® tablets are high in omega-3s, including ALA, EPA, and DHA, described above.

Gamma Linolenic Acid (Omega-6)

Like omega-3s, omega-6s are polyunsaturated and can only be obtained through a balanced diet, as it is not produced organically in the human body.

Omega-6s are absorbed and mainly used by our bodies for energy<2>. The most common form of omega-6 found in food today is linoleic acid. Forms of linoleic acid like gamma linolenic acid(GLA) converts into arachidonic acid (ARA), another compound that helps with inflammation<2>.

In addition, omega-6s have been found to aid against arthritis, kidney disease, and even premenstrual syndrome<8>!

So how does this relate to ENERGYbits® algae? Gamma linoleic acid, or GLA, is a form of omega-6 found in algae!

Fatty acids in algae, including GLA, are not heat stable, so high heat destroys its nutritional value. Unfortunately, many algae companies will utilize these cheaper, easier methods to create algae products, rendering their fatty acids useless<10>.

ENERGYbits® is different. We know that taking poorly processed algae is pointless, so we do things with care and dry our algae without high heat, which means the fatty acids in our tablets are protected and active.

ENERGYbits® Algae is a Sustainable Source of Fatty Acids

Recently there has been a surge in the global demand for algae. Researchers believe this escalation is due to global focus on wellness and nutrient-dense food <10>.

This has led to many new foods and health supplements being introduced to meet growing demand.

True, many of these products might share some of the nutritional benefits of algae, however algae is one of the most sustainable, all-natural, eco-friendly health foods you can buy today–which is promising not only for our health, but the health of the planet<9>!

Algae is a better source of omega-3s compared to fish oil and flaxseed oil.
Get your essential fatty acids from the most sustainable source and cleanest way, algae!

Fatty Acid Absorption is Enhanced in Algae

Did you know that your body’s ability to absorb fatty acids depends on other nutrients also being present?

ENERGYbits® algae tablets contain forty other vitamins and minerals to ensure optimal fatty acid absorption. Here are just a few of its many nutrients:

  • High Plant Protein (60% protein = 3 x steak)
  • High Organic Iron (48 x spinach)
  • High Chlorophyll (1,000 x greens)
  • High Antioxidants (1,000 x cherries)
  • High Vitamins & Minerals (1,000 x other vegetables)
  • High Fatty Acids (Omega-3, DHA, GLA)
  • High Vitamin K2 protects heart, brain, skin and bones

Be Mindful of Your Algae

Algae is a superfood, it is not a supplement or vitamin, and in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, can help support good health. But remember, not all algae is created equal. If you want the nutrition benefits this superfood offers, you should only consume high quality algae.

ENERGYbits® algae tablets are endorsed by doctors, nutritionists and professional athletes nationwide because they are one of the purest, unaltered sources of algae available. We take your health as seriously as you do and take every precaution to protect it including:

  1. Growing our algae organically in triple filtered spring mountain water which ensures there are no toxins
  2. Drying our algae without high heat which ensures the enzymes and nutrients are preserved and
  3. Cracking our chlorella with sound vibrations, rather than glass beads like most other brands (which can contaminate your algae with lead–no thanks!).
