It’s November and you know what that means. The holiday season is upon us! As much as we know you enjoy time off to celebrate Thanksgiving, no one enjoys putting on extra pounds that can result from those extravagant meals and parties! Here are a few of our suggestions for making healthier choices during the holidays.
If you’re like most of us, you’ll likely find yourself snacking for hours before the main meal. So take a minute and pay attention to your body. Are you actually hungry or are you eating just because there’s food in front of you? By making sure you’re only eating when you’re hungry, you’ll eliminate extra unnecessary calories.
Pay attention to your portions
Most Thanksgiving meals include more dishes than normal. We agree that variety is the spice of life so the best way to survive these temptations is limit your portions and try to fill your plate with as many healthy, green options as possible (and take some BITS before dinner). This will allow you to have a satisfying taste of everything without going overboard.
Limit sweetened beverages
If you want to indulge in something other than water, pay attention to how big your glass is and how many times you refill it. Sparkling water with a slice of lemon or lime is a better choice than party drinks like eggnog, cider and cocktails that contain lots of calories. On the other hand if you want to treat yourself, try to limit yourself to just one cocktail (but don’t forget to take your RECOVERYbits® after drinking so you won’t have a hangover the next day!)
Share your dessert
Pies tend to be the highlight of Thanksgiving whether its pecan, pumpkin or apple! If having dessert is part of your holiday celebration that you can’t live without, try to limit it to one slice or even better share a desert! Sharing is caring and it’s also good karma!
Don’t forget your Bits®!
ENERGYbits®, SKINNYbits® and RECOVERYbits® are great for healthy snacking at the holidays. All our BITS® have high protein, high fats, forty vitamins and minerals but just ONE calorie per tablet. So, if you are looking for something to satisfy your hunger and want it to be healthy and low calorie, just reach for your bits. If you are going out for dinner or are a dinner guest, tuck a few tins or single servings in your pocket or handbag. And don’t forget to take a few extra for your host! We’re sure they will love our stylish packaging and will be grateful that you shared your bits.
