Spirulina is a fresh water blue green algae that was the first plant life on earth almost three billion years ago. Spirulina is so concentrated with nutrition that forty years ago the United Nations declared it to be the healthiest food in the world. Algae's nutritional profile is so impressive that the scientific, nutrition, sports and medical communities have conducted over 100,000 scientific studies about its health benefits.
Spirulina provides the highest concentration of protein in the world, all in the form of essential amino acids for muscle, health and cellular growth. It's over forty nutrients ensure complete nutritional health and its natural nitric oxide provides immediate and enduring physical and mental energy.
Spirulina is nature’s equivalent to an energy drink – but since it comes straight from nature (not a lab or production plant), it's much better!
Our organically grown spirulina is NON GMO, 100% natural, 100% green, carbon neutral, has only ONE calorie per tab and contains no sugar, no caffeine, no chemicals, no gluten, no soy, fillers or anything artificial. It is the richest source of protein in the world (64%), has more beta carotene than carrots, more iron than spinach or liver, more chlorophyll than liquid chlorphyll, more antioxidants than any other food and the second highest concentration of an essential fatty acid called GLA (that behaves like Omega 3), second only to mothers milk. GLA is critical for brain health.
Spirulina is also rich in all the B vitamins, all the electrolytes and other minerals you need to be healthy, including zinc and magnesium. In short, spirulina algae is your green dream and green team come true. Taking our spirulina tabs is the easiest and fastest way to be revived and energized. Spirulina is a nitrogen based algae which naturally releases nitric oxide in your body. You may be wondering what nitric oxide is and why is it important …so hang on and we’ll tell you. The merits of nitric oxide supplements have only recently come to the attention of the athletic community. What follows is a quick guide to one of the most important molecules known to professional athletes and now you!
Nitric Oxide is a compound made up of one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom. In order for the body to create Nitric Oxide, it needs arginine (an amino acid) and a family of enzymes called Nitric Oxide synthase (NOS). When arginine and a NOS enzyme come in contact with each other, the reaction produces Nitric Oxide along with citrulline (another amino acid).
Nitric Oxide travels freely from cell to cell in your body directing and ordering a wide variety of functions within the body. Depending on the situation, Nitric Oxide can act as an intracellular messenger, a hormone, or a neurotransmitter. However, for the purpose of athletes, we'll focus on the role of Nitric Oxide as an intracellular messenger regulating one of the body's most important processes - blood flow.
Nitric Oxide is produced within the cells that line the inside of blood vessels. When these cells are stimulated--such as when the muscle contracts--it synthesizes and releases Nitric Oxide. Once released, Nitric Oxide diffuses across the cell membrane into the adjacent smooth muscle tissue of the blood vessels, causing them to relax and widen (a process called vasodilation). The result is an increase in blood flow to the stimulated area, which ultimately causes your muscles to get pumped and stay that way for around forty minutes afterwards. But it helps everything in your body get more blood flow.
So why do your muscles get stronger when you work out? Well, basically, blood, which is the body's primary transport medium, carries all the vital nutrients (e.g., amino acid, creatine, glucose, and oxygen) which are required for energy production, growth, and maintenance. Exercising causes more of this to occur. Additionally, blood carries away the by-products of metabolism (e.g., carbon dioxide and lactic acid) that fatigue the muscle and inhibit performance. Increasing blood flow to the muscle enhances growth, strength development, and recuperation. Spirulina has been shown to improve vascular tone by increasing the synthesis and release of nitric oxide, which is what helps your muscles get more blood, oxygen & nutrients brought to them so you get stronger and recover more quickly!
Our spirulina algae tabs give you the nutritional edge you need to improve your performance, focus and energy.

The most avid believers in the health benefits of spirulina are the Japanese, who consume more algae than anyone else in the world. And since the Japanese have the best longevity in the world, maybe they’re on to something. They knew about sushi before we did in America and that was pretty good so we hope you'll give spirulina algae a try too. And when you do, your body will do summersaults it will be so energized by the nutrition you're giving it! But on a more serious note, research has found that spirulina’s high concentration of nutrients and protein not only curbs your appetite, gives you energy and eliminates brain fog, it also helps you lose weight, control cravings, improves focus, and so much more.

Spirulina is truly out of this world it is so packed with nutrition. Maybe that’s why NASA feeds it to the astronauts. Gram per gram, there is no denser source of nutrition than spirulina or chlorella. NASA has even been quoted to say “the nutrition in 1 kg of spirulina is equivalent to the nutrition in 1,000 kg of fruits and vegetables”. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather take a handful of ENERGYbits® or SKINNYbits® to get my nutrition for the day than lug home the thirty bags of groceries you'd need to get the same amount of nutrition in one bag of our BITS. But if an endorsement by NASA isn’t enough to convince you of the health benefits you’ll get from spirulina, consider that in the 1970's the United Nations hailed spirulina as one of the “Greatest Superfoods on Earth” and the answer to world hunger.
Everyone! If you or your children do not eat three balanced meals a day, or do not get the recommended intake of fresh fruits and vegetables, or if you are trying to build muscle or improve your athletic performance, are on a restricted diet, travel a lot, work a lot, work out a lot, study a lot, worry a lot, party a lot or under a lot of stress, you should be taking at least 30 tabs of ENERGYbits® or SKINNYbits® every day. We figure that’s just about everyone. Including us.
The natural plant pigments that give Spirulina its distinct color also provide numerous health benefits. These pigments include chlorophyll (green), which helps cleanse the body of toxins, beta carotene (orange), a potent antioxidant, and phycocyanin (blue), which supports protein absorption and healthy immune function.
YES! For generations, people of all ages and of all cultures around the world have safely enjoyed the benefits of spirulina. In fact, spirulina was a food staple of many earlier cultures including the Aztecs of Mexico, who according to Spanish explorers from 1500, regularly featured spirulina as a dish at the dinner table. Spirulina was also a main food staple in the Lake Chad region of Africa. In Japan, research has shown that when babies are born with an intolerance to Mother’s Milk, they die if they are not fed spirulina daily. It seems that the blend of amino acids (protein) in spirulina and the high concentration of GLA (an essential fatty acid) in spirulina is almost identical to that found in mother’s milk. If spirulina is safe enough for newborn babies, one has to believe it is safe enough for anyone of any age for any reason.
Out of 100,000 studies on spirulina and chlorella algae, no negative side affects have been found. However if you have had a poor diet and are nutrient deficient, in RARE instances, you may have a sensitivity to the intense nutrition in spirulina. Sometimes the high concentration of niacin causes what is called a "niacin flush" which lasts only a few hours and makes your face red and sometimes the high concentration of beta carotene causes mild stomach upset. But these are very rare, are only temporary and are not considered medically harmful.
Algae was the first plant life on earth almost 3 billion years ago and is considered a superfood because it contains virtually every nutrient. It has over 60% protein content, over forty vitamins and minerals and a more complete amino acid profile than beef or soy beans. It is also one of the best known food sources of beta carotene, B vitamins, antioxidants and chlorophyll.
Spirulina algae is a cultivated algae which has been consumed for thousands of years by the indigenous peoples in Mexico and Africa. It has the highest concentration of protein earth - triple that of steak as well as the second highest concentration of an Essential Fatty Acid called GLA (second only to mother's milk). Its nutrient profile is so similar to mothers milk, it is considered a "perfect food."
Chlorella algae is harvested in fresh water tanks and has been used for over fifty years in Asia. It has a remarkable ability to help remove toxins and help build the immune system. All naturally. Chlorella contains over 40 nutrients including all the B vitamins, vitamin C, zinc and many minerals. It offers so many benefits we would never have enough room here to list them all.
